Joy & Truth Retreat
April 04 - 06
In this weekend tribute to Maya Angelou, explore your own life story through the lens of Ms. Angelou’s poetry, narrative, and wisdom. Erin will guide you through the landscape of your body, mind, and spirit with joy, compassion, and intuition. Expect creativity, introspection, and thoughtful, all levels yoga lessons that yoke tenderness to empowerment, contrast darkness to light, and celebrate joy and truth.
MEET THE PRESENTER:
Erin Bowman has been exploring ideas of freedom and belonging for more than 10 years. Spiritually and culturally curious, the study of yoga is limitless and this, and this vastness is what keeps Erin on the mat. As a studio owner, yoga therapist, teacher educator and, most importantly, student, the eight limbed practice continues to unfold through meditation, writing, advanced studies in bio-mechanics. Highly intuitive, Erin follows her heart’s guidance both in McMinnville, where she lives with her husband and daughters, and to Salishan Resort, a sacred destination and her birthplace. Each lesson, whether public or private, lecture, movement, or meditation is sourced from an ever expanding understanding of ancient wisdom, creativity and humor.
Gather Together in My Name: Yoga with Soul - 8 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
The stage will be set with low lights, jazz music, and candles as we celebrate Maya’s birthday through patient, nourishing movement.
With the Certainty of Tides - 8:30 a.m.

Life Doesn’t Frighten Me At All: Moving through Fear - 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Maya Angelou once told Oprah, “Do not think you can be brave with your life and your work and never disappoint anyone. It doesn’t work that way.” Scared mute as a child, Maya developed her love of literature during the time she felt she couldn’t speak. Your shadows are welcome here. Using the wisdom of chakra healing, Maya’s comforting words, and themes from Brené Brown’s Braving Wilderness, we’ll move patiently with our formative roots, build trust in partner work, and liberate our wild hearts.
Still I Rise: Creative Workshop - 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
This optional and open studio offering will be a time for unleashing your creative joy. Supplies for journaling, drawing, and smudge wand making will be available. If your preference is to curl up and read, play solitaire, or just chat, there will be space for all.
Southern, Family-Style Dinner - 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
And Still I Rise, Film - 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
We will watch this film while enjoying scotch and tea cookies.
Yoga Church: A Prayer for Peace - 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Commune with your version of God through breath and somatic movement. Inspired yoga, poetry, and meditation offers deep healing and connection: to self, to nature, and to spirit.

Salishan has recently changed ownership and the new management has made exciting changes and breathed new life into the resort... This is a wonderful destination resort for people looking for a peaceful retreat and a classic Pacific Northwest experience. At the same time, there is enough action going on that it’s a great resort for families.Leah Deangelis (The Modern Travelers)
Lovely hotel situated in a nicely landscaped environment. Room was comfortable and clean; contained a dining table with chairs near a welcoming fireplace.2hi2cu (TripAdvisor)

Really great location. My family liked being tucked back in the forest. My son loved the pool and getting to hunt for glass floats!bad_oliver (TripAdvisor)
Absolutely one of the most beautiful resorts in the Pacific Northwest. First class accommodations and activities galore. If I could give them six stars I would. Probably one of the best customer experiences we have had.125dthomas (TripAdvisor)
The Spa at Salishan was easily one of the most beautiful spas I’ve been to…The massage was epic, but so was just wandering around the spa and admiring its beauty.Ariel Lynn (aeriallynn.com)
